The price is luckily now reduced, it was at 20$ at launch on Home, where the today's price is much more reasonable and in line with the PC version.Smashing the Battle VR is a furious hack and slash game, focused almost totally on fighting and big combos against countless robots. The exploration side is tiny, there are instead tons of unlockables and some powerup for your avatar. The overall amount of things to do, levels to beat, objectives to reach will cover many hours: on the other hand, it's a button smashing over and over so if you don't like this kind of gameplay, get old easily. To me, Smashing the Battle is surely good enough to well worth his price, I've two hours in it and count to spend more.Characterization is peculiar, with busty anime girls with huge blades and armors. The game do not take himself seriously, and I appreciate his irony and surreal dialogues before and during stages. It's a kind of style you could like or dislike anyway, especially if you're an impatient player easy to "skip" any intro for instant action. Smashing the Battle uses an external camera with fixed distance and rotation and a bidimensional scrolling. We had many experiments of this kind in the Oculus Dev Kit era, unfortunately almost all abandoned (Meltdown was so similiar to Smashing the Battle for example, it's very bad they stopped to support VR). Not the most immersive perspective you can get, but works and is also quite comfortable to use.Important thing to know: I suggest this one only if you own a gamepad (and are fine in playing seated) Vive wands are supported but simply they're the wrong device for a beat'em up.. I'm not a big brawler fan, but this is a lot of fun!!. Suprisingly funny and refreshing Game in VR. Looks like you're playing with sexy Anime-Actionfigures and generates an Image of how unbelievably wonderfull a real Diablo-like VR-Game could be.. Pleasantly surprised at how fun this was to actually play.. This is actually alot of fun. Since the trailer doesn't really describe how the VR works, you are sorta hovering over the play field like where the camera would be. It's actually really cool since it looks like a bunch of figurines duking it out. The controls are minorly awkward, it might just be because these type of games should have a game controller rather than 2 seperate controllers. I honestly didn't try it out for long before just using my steam controller instead. The GUI elements also sorta float hover around your character it works really well. The game itself is pretty fun with unlocks and stuff. Plays like the trailer so just take a look at that. This is honestly very worth the buy. It offers something different than the normal VR experience and is quite alot of fun.Pro:*Different than the normal wave shooters associated with VR.*Gameplay itself is fun w\/o relying on just being a VR game*Varity of enemies*Sexy Anime Characters are well done, the theme and art are good.*Alternate armors you can unlock.*Runs really well.Con:*The maps feel like they repeat, not sure if they do actually but It consist of Squares, paths, and the occasional lift.*Only 2 Heroines*Motion controls are kinda awkward as it's just a replacement gamepad.*Sorta a small game (but it's price right for the length)Wishlist:*more Characters*Steam Workship integration*more Customization. The game is good enough that if there was DLC for more Characters I would buy right away or if there was a sequel I would too also buy at full price. This one showed me that Beat em up games should totally be ported to VR and I now I really want Senran Kagura in VR.. I played this on the Oculus Rift with Xbox controller and had zero issues. I'm not sure why the dev put HTC vive only, especially on the June 15th update, which might scare potential buyers away. Maybe the dev wants them to go to the Oculus Store page instead, but if so, that's a pretty short-sighted way to look at things. The game plays almost exactly as the video on the store page. It's an action brawler beat em up with many different powerups on cooldowns. You have to evade and attack at the right times. I would say it comes very close to being a buttom smasher, except you can't just evade when you want and you do have to keep track of your cooldowns. Also, there's lots of enemies you have to prioritize and areas to stay away from because of explosions. There's lots of positives, but also some very big negatives.Positives: + Nice stylized graphics+ Easy to get into gameplay+ Comic book anime story type cutscenes+ lots of unlocks\/customizables+ two different ways to play with both characters+ lots of enemy types and powerups Negatives: - poor level design, i swear each corridor looks almost the same, not much variety (BIG MINUS)- not the best camera movement- VR doesn't really add that much, it starts out great, you can look all around 360, then you start playing and only see in front of you- related to above problems, your motion controllers are worthless, gamepad is betterSale Price Rating 5.5\/10 buy on sale only ($6.59 USD or preferrably less). I haven't played long but since there aren't any English reviews yet I thought I'd leave my impressions. This is a decent brawler and the price is right. Seems like it will be kind of repetative in the long run, but what's there controls solidly and the VR is done well. I think third person games work very well in VR, and I hope we get more of them. Pros: The art is nice, the graphics are decent, the models and animation are good, and there are things to unlock in game. Controls better than I expected, but I'll admit to low expecations. Cons: I'm not sure how much variety there will be in the levels, doesn't seem like there will be much. The music seems like it's glitching out in slow motion sometimes. Thumbs up as long as you realize what you're getting.. My Specs: GPU: GeForce GTX 1070CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHzMemory: 16 GB RAM (15.94 GB RAM usable)Current resolution: 3840 x 2160, 60HzHTC VIVENew NOTE: I just looked at my game play video and saw that it was at 1440p which is correct but the game looks 10x better in VR than on a 2D screen. The graphics are nice in game in VR. If you look at the screen shots that is a better depiction but still looks better in VR.The fact that this game was on mobile or Rift before has no bearing on my feelings toward this game. If the port is good then it is good for me. In short: the game is fun, graphics are good but the controls may take some getting use to for some people. If you can use a controller it may be more intuative for this kind of game to save wearing the trackpad buttons out. Overall, in the time I played I had a good fun time and this kind of game is definately not my normal genre in VR. Sexy characters are a perk. Buy this and enjoy.Note: The only downside to this game are limited sound and graphics options and using the trackpad in such a harsh way. Sliding trackpad would have been better then holding it down. Still tolerable and looks good for what it does have in place. The game is still fun.First live play video here with no game sound for copyright reasons. I am talking though expressing my feelings while playing. Thanks and enjoy the show.https:\/\/youtu.be\/37nUlzq7YrU. Pleasantly surprised at how fun this was to actually play.
